A bit of my own summary, including my own interpretations of the character along with some head cannon information.
At the start of the anime, Alibaba was mourning his father’s death (the King of Balbadd) and felt directly responsible for his death, since he created a secret tunnel out of the palace to see the slums where he grew up and after several drinks with his childhood friend(Cassim) about it, leading to thieves lead by Cassim to pillage the palace using Alibaba's secret tunnel before burning it. Alibaba ran away, racked with guilt ran away, believing that he was responsible for the king’s death. The king had abandoned Alibaba to the slums with his mother, so, Alibaba had kept a relatively formal relationship, despite the king taking him to the palace and educated him to the best of his ability after his mother succumbed to sickness and died. In order for his mom to provide for Alibaba and his sister Mariam, she prostituted herself but was always a very loving and warm mother figure.

There was an indeterminate amount of time where Alibaba was a driver for a trade caravan, he also was possible a wondering merchant of some sort since he would go to market, buy supplies and manage the inventory of several wagons worth of goods. Aladdin nudged Alibaba to show his true noble colours, rather than simply lying or blending in to every situation Alibaba finds himself in, it does take a few episodes to feel his partnership with Aladdin was a friendship he wanted to maintain, rather than a mere opportunity to exploit but even before Alibaba, he did have enough compassion to save some slaves from a dessert monster, nearly dying himself in the attempt and would have, if Alladin didn’t save him.

After gaining Amon(His Fire Djinn that he received for capturing the dungeon, which also had lots of money), he became lord/governor of the city he was living in at the time, bought all the slaves and set them free, rather then enjoy all the luxuries it offered, he returned home to Balbadd, only to find the poverty had grown much worse. Despite Alibaba being designated as successor to the throne during the king’s death bed, it was never made public knowledge and when Alibaba ran away, his brother Achmad took the throne and abused it’s power to enrich himself and the nobles at court to the detriment of the citizens.

Visiting the slums of his birth, he found it deserted, forcibly evicted by royal decree, along with a small grave of his sister Mariam. Under Cassim's request Alibaba “leads” the Fog Troop, a group of thieves with magical weapons, Alibaba insists that they are noble thieves, Cassim on the other hand plans to use it to destroy the monarchy and take control of the country himself after they have enough support and numbers, using Alibaba as a figurehead to gain legitimacy and support since Alibaba is still a prince of Balbadd.

Alibaba at this point, doesn’t think much of himself, sure he has Amon, but Alladin helped, without him, Alibaba would have died saving the slaves that befell a monster, let alone capture the dungeon, facing against Sinbad didn’t help matters, sure, Alibaba primarily used his swordsmanship to disarm him, but Sinbad defeated Alibaba with just one Magoi infused punch and then started to lead the Fog Troop! When Alibaba discovers the plot to enslave his people and how Cassim intends to start a war, he tries to charge the palace by himself in order to prove his worth and spare Cassim and the country unneeded bloodshed.

Despite ultimately overthrowing the government and created a republic to free his people from the cruelties of monarchy, Cassim chose to attack, turning into a Dark Djinn by cursing his fate and killing himself when his forces and the people’s wrath(fueled by dark Rukh) were thwarted, Alibaba couldn’t kill Cassim despite the opportunities given to him, but Cassim dies anyway after realizing Alibaba’s sincerity and that he isn’t perfect as he “has done some rotten things too”. Part of Cassim's soul merged with Alibaba's effectively giving him two souls to utilize Magoi(Magical energy in all living beings) after a year of intensive training and a slight personality change such as being more assertive. He still is compassionate, although he sometimes comes across as commanding and sure of himself.

During these events, Alibaba discovered Al-Tharman, a secret organization that was using Cassim and Achmed as steppingstones to both enrich the Kou(who Al-Tharman had infiltrated) and generally create chaos in order to create enough darkness to summon “father” and destroy all life, unfortunately, despite Alibaba and Sinbadd’s best efforts, Balbadd was lost and made a subordinate of the Kou empire just as Alibaba was hammering the details of the republic that would have made his people govern themselves and be free from the corruptions of monarchy.

However despite losing his country to the Kou Empire, Sinbad’s interference made it so they would be quasi-independent under the Kou’s thumb and not be slaves as Al-tharman planned, but even so, it remains a regret that Alibaba couldn’t do more for his people, even if he knows it was the best possible outcome. His compassion and willingness to fight in the best interests of not just his people but all people made Alibaba a King's Candidate(shortlist of chosen ones that could rule the world), although not the most powerful and does have some guilt and self-esteem issues, it has been commented that he is one of the noblest souls in the world and already has made waves with his earnest attitude, helping the entire world move forward with their own challenges.

Personality:
Loyalty and empathy are the two strongest traits that can be used to describe Alibaba, both of those were encouraged by his upbringing, primarily his mother and his initial environment in the slums, working together meant survival, lies, deception not exactly being straight forward could jeopardize their lives. Despite being surrounded by death he still formed close friendships and played games with the other children, when his mother was alive, she was loving and encouraging despite being a prostitute that struggled to make ends meet, she always had affection for Alibaba, his sister Mariam and practically adopted Cassim. Bringing people together made his life worth living when his mom died Alibaba was taken by his father to live in the palace to receive the best education and training the king could afford.

Despite the luxuries of the palace, he had to to go back to visit the slums and did so by digging a secret tunnel, wanting to see his former friends, his community, later, when it is revealed that Cassim, wanted to start a war, Alibaba was mortified and tried to tackle the problem alone because he needed to prove to himself that he was worthy of Amon and out of loyalty to his people. He refused any outside help initially due to stubbornness, this was his problem and he was going to solve it himself. He quickly realizes that he should have accepted help sooner, it is one of his deepest regrets since it leads to a battle which costed many lives.

However, despite having shame and regrets, these events don't break Alibaba, even when he ran away and once cursed his fate, they come with some emotional baggage that he has worked hard to deal with, but sometimes they still haunt him. These experiences are utilized to understand others and as a reminder of where he was once, it could have been easy for him to completely fall but with some help from some very loyal friends, he didn't and thus he usually sees both sides of the issue, unless one was blatantly abusing their power or their wealth Alibaba typically shows understanding and sympathy, otherwise he is quick to anger when such injustices arise.

Seeing many injustices and having to fight tooth and nail for survival, one might assume he would be cynical or pessimistic, but he is, in fact, an idealistic seeing both poor and wealthy people having their own issues and how either side can use their positions for good and ill gave Alibaba a more balanced view then the cynicism that most might develop, if there were some that could be good, then forming bonds or encouragement might help them change their ways, it worked with himself when he wanted to be self-centred, so why not others? Even if they needed to be removed from power, or brought down, it was their choice, everyone has some sort of choice no matter their circumstances, Alibaba could choose to bitter and self-centred or he can be helpful and see the world become a little better for it by paying it forward, even if they struggle to do so.
Abilities:
Fire magic, using his Metal vessel(his sword that Amon lives in), he can produce flames by using Magoi, magical energy within all living beings, it is unclear if it’s their life force, but it is possible to die if it’s all used up. He can shape the fire to:
Burst from the ground skyward like a pillar, the biggest he has produced is about the size of a fortified wall, and the width of himself Encircle himself and an opponent to trap them in the flames while Alibaba can be free to move in and out of said circle of fire, roughly the height of a person Produce a wave or burst of flames following a sword slash, can be a small extension of his sword or large enough to slam against a giant elephant.

Immunity to Fire and Heat: Fire, heat or lava does not affect Alibaba at all, he can absorb them (fire and lava) in order to heal himself physically, regain Magoi and energize himself.

Sword play, Alibaba has two styles he favours, Balbadd Royal Sword Play, and an unnamed one, both use light weapons such as knives and single-handed swords. The first style focuses on evasion and quick strikes when your opponent is vulnerable, dodging everything thrown at them, near constantly on the move. The second style is best utilized on one-handed swords, it is still fast-paced and dodges are used, however, the fluid parries allow for the user to stand their ground, and magical weapons that would normally damage his weapon will be redirected so smoothly that the weapon remains unharmed.

Djinn Weapon Equip, his sword turns black and turns incredibly hot, able to slice or melt “ almost anything” exceptions tend to be magical in nature. Able to get out of restraints using this ability even if he is completely restrained by magical means as long as the metal vessel is in his possession.

Full Djinn Equip, Alibaba transforms into a form where all of his abilities are at their most powerful, his fire magic in this form will allow him to fly, disintegrate multiple giant beings in one attack burning a part of the countryside as a consequence, his speed also increases dramatically, sometimes transforming into a ball of flames while in flight.

Extreme Magic: Alibaba summons a giant fire being that copies Alibaba’s movements/strikes, delivering blows far more powerful then Alibaba could do himself.

Mixing magic: Alibaba apparently (only does this twice near the end of the series) mix his magic with others. The easiest will be using another person’s fire magic to enhanced his own significantly, even being able to merge his extreme magic with a dozen others at once containing contradicting elements in order to perform a world-saving spell to use against the big bad at the end of the series.
